Baby & Kids’ Feeding Essentials

Baby Feeding Sets, Silicone Tableware, Cups and Bottles

Everyday mealtimes change quickly during childhood—from a baby’s first supervised tastes to independent eating, nursery snacks, school lunches and drinks on the go.

Gravitaly’s Feeding collection brings together thoughtfully selected tableware and drinkware for babies, toddlers and older children. Discover silicone bowls, plates, divided suction plates, first-meal sets, snack containers, training cups, bibs, reusable bottles and insulated food pots in practical, child-friendly designs.

Products in this collection are intended for different ages and uses. Some tableware carries a manufacturer’s recommendation from four months, while bottles and insulated food containers may be intended for children aged three years and over. Always check the individual product’s age recommendation, materials, capacity, temperature limits and care instructions.

What Can You Find in the Collection?

Depending on availability, the collection may include:

  • silicone first-meal sets;
  • baby and toddler bowls;
  • plates with raised rims;
  • divided suction plates;
  • snack containers with lids;
  • silicone sippy cups;
  • open training cups;
  • feeding spoons;
  • textile bibs;
  • Tritan drinking bottles;
  • stainless-steel bottles;
  • insulated lunch pots.

Not every item is suitable for every feeding stage. A bowl marked 4m+, a drinking bottle marked 3y+ and an insulated food pot have different intended uses and safety considerations.

Choosing Feeding Products by Stage

Preparing for first foods

A manufacturer may label a bowl, spoon or feeding set as suitable from four months. This means the product itself has that stated minimum age; it does not mean that every four-month-old baby is ready for solid food.

Complementary feeding normally begins around six months, when the baby can:

  • remain in a sitting position and hold their head steady;
  • coordinate their eyes, hands and mouth;
  • pick up food and bring it towards their mouth;
  • swallow food rather than automatically pushing it out.

Follow guidance from an appropriate healthcare professional if the baby was born prematurely or has feeding, swallowing, allergy or developmental concerns.

Supported feeding

Soft bowls, raised rims and suitable spoons can assist an adult during supervised feeding. Check that the child is seated upright and alert and that the food temperature and texture are appropriate.

Never feed a baby while they are lying down, moving in a vehicle or left unattended.

Learning to self-feed

Bowls with handles, high-sided plates and suitable cutlery can give children opportunities to practise:

  • reaching and grasping;
  • scooping food;
  • bringing a spoon towards the mouth;
  • drinking from a cup;
  • coordinating two hands;
  • participating in family mealtimes.

These products can support practice but cannot guarantee earlier or easier independent eating.

Nursery, school and travel

Reusable bottles, snack containers and insulated food pots may suit older children who can use them safely and follow the product’s instructions.

Before packing food or drinks, check:

  • the stated minimum age;
  • capacity;
  • permitted food and drink temperatures;
  • leak-resistance instructions;
  • whether the container must remain upright;
  • how long hot or cold contents may be stored;
  • cleaning requirements.

Silicone Bowls and Plates

The current collection includes 100% silicone bowls and plates, including models with suction bases, handles, raised rims and divided compartments.

Suction performance depends on:

  • the surface being smooth, clean and dry;
  • correct placement;
  • the base being free from food residue;
  • the child not lifting the edge;
  • the product remaining undamaged.

Avoid claiming that suction completely prevents spills or that a product sticks to “any surface.” Textured wood, fabric, porous stone and uneven tables may reduce adhesion.

Before every use, inspect silicone products for:

  • cuts and tears;
  • bite damage;
  • tacky or deteriorated surfaces;
  • trapped residue;
  • discolouration;
  • persistent odour;
  • weakened suction bases.

Replace the product if it is damaged or can no longer be cleaned thoroughly.

Divided Plates

Compartments can keep foods separate and make it easier to serve different components of a meal. They do not guarantee that a child will accept new foods or textures.

Avoid language suggesting that divided plates prevent picky eating, sensory difficulties or nutritional problems.

Sippy Cups and Open Cups

A removable lid can allow some cups to transition between a spouted cup and an open cup. Check the exact construction because not all lids are spill-proof or leak-proof.

Before serving a drink:

  • assemble every component correctly;
  • test the lid and spout;
  • check the liquid temperature;
  • seat the child upright;
  • supervise drinking;
  • clean narrow openings thoroughly;
  • inspect for tears, blockages and mould.

A sippy cup should not be used as a comfort object in bed. Prolonged contact with sweetened drinks can contribute to tooth decay.

Snack Containers

A container with a lid is not automatically airtight or leak-proof. Avoid packing liquid, oily or hot food unless the manufacturer specifically permits it.

Check that the lid is fully seated and carry the container according to its instructions. Small detachable components must be kept away from children below the stated age.

Drinking Bottles

The collection includes different bottle materials, including Tritan-type plastic and stainless steel. These materials require different care and temperature instructions.

Before using a bottle:

  • wash all parts before first use;
  • confirm whether it is intended for cold drinks only;
  • check whether carbonated drinks are permitted;
  • examine the cap, seal, straw and spout;
  • confirm that all parts are correctly fitted;
  • test for leakage;
  • keep small removable seals away from young children.

Never place a bottle in a microwave. Metal bottles must not be microwaved under any circumstances.

Do not use a drinking bottle for hot liquids unless the manufacturer expressly identifies the model as suitable for them and provides a safe temperature range.

Insulated Food Pots

An insulated pot can slow temperature change, but it does not sterilise food or keep it safe indefinitely.

For safer use:

  • preheat or precool only as instructed;
  • place food in the container at an appropriate temperature;
  • close the lid correctly;
  • follow the permitted holding time;
  • keep the pot away from direct sunlight;
  • test food temperature before serving;
  • discard food when safe storage cannot be confirmed.

Do not place an insulated stainless-steel pot in a microwave. Check whether the lid, seals or other components have separate cleaning requirements.

Bibs

Textile bibs protect clothing but do not eliminate supervision requirements.

Before use:

  • confirm that the neck fastening fits correctly;
  • keep the bib away from flames and heaters;
  • inspect snaps, hook-and-loop fasteners and seams;
  • remove it before sleep;
  • never use it as a restraint;
  • stop using it if components become loose.

A bib marked 0m+ is not a toy or sleep accessory.

Microwave, Oven and Freezer Use

Several current silicone pages state that products are suitable for the microwave, oven, freezer and dishwasher. These claims should appear only when confirmed by the manufacturer for the exact product.

Add the verified:

  • minimum and maximum temperature;
  • maximum oven temperature;
  • permitted heating duration;
  • microwave instructions;
  • freezer temperature;
  • whether lids may be heated;
  • cooling time before giving the item to a child.

“Microwave safe” does not mean that food heats evenly. Stir the food thoroughly and test its temperature before serving.

Dishwasher Use

Dishwasher suitability should be confirmed separately for:

  • the main container;
  • lid;
  • straw;
  • silicone seal;
  • printed or coated components;
  • insulated body.

Disassemble removable parts and allow them to dry completely before reassembly. Pay particular attention to narrow spouts, hidden channels and seals where moisture or food residue may remain.

Food-Contact Compliance

Children’s tableware and drinkware are food-contact articles. In the EU, food-contact materials must comply with the general safety and inertness principles of Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 and be manufactured according to applicable good-manufacturing requirements. Materials must not transfer constituents to food at levels that could endanger health or unacceptably affect food composition, taste or odour. European Commission — Food-contact legislation

The applicable documentation can depend on whether the article contains:

  • silicone;
  • plastic or Tritan-type copolyester;
  • stainless steel;
  • coatings;
  • inks and prints;
  • adhesives;
  • multiple material layers.

Keep supplier documentation covering the exact article, colour and production batch, including migration testing and applicable declarations where required.

BPA-Free and Food-Grade Claims

“BPA-free” addresses only one substance. It does not prove that an article complies with every applicable food-contact requirement.

EU Regulation 2024/3190 introduced restrictions concerning BPA and certain other bisphenols in food-contact materials, with transitional arrangements for some products. EUR-Lex — Regulation (EU) 2024/3190

Use claims such as:

  • BPA-free;
  • food-grade silicone;
  • non-toxic;
  • phthalate-free;
  • lead-free;
  • PVC-free;

only when the supplier has provided documentation applicable to the exact product and its food-contact conditions.

“Food-grade” is not a substitute for identifying the applicable legislation, tests and permitted conditions of use.

CE Marking

Ordinary bowls, plates, cups, bottles and food containers do not generally require CE marking merely because they are intended for children.

CE marking applies only when a product falls within legislation that specifically requires it. It is not a universal food-safety certificate or quality award.

Do not state:

Meets EU safety standards and carries CE certification.

unless the supplier provides:

  • the product’s regulatory classification;
  • the specific CE legislation;
  • the applicable standards;
  • an EU Declaration of Conformity;
  • evidence that CE marking is legally required for that exact article.

Food-contact compliance and CE marking are separate regulatory concepts.

Safe Mealtimes

Babies and young children should be seated safely upright and actively supervised while eating or drinking. The adult should remain close enough to see and intervene immediately.

To reduce choking risk:

  • choose food with an age-appropriate size, shape and texture;
  • remove hard stones, pips and bones;
  • modify small round foods appropriately;
  • do not allow eating while walking, running or lying down;
  • do not leave a child alone with food;
  • distinguish gagging from choking;
  • seek appropriate first-aid training.

NHS guidance on preparing food safely recommends that babies and young children remain alert, seated upright and supervised during eating.

Cleaning and Replacement

Follow the exact instructions for each material. In general:

  • wash before first use;
  • disassemble removable parts;
  • use an approved detergent;
  • rinse thoroughly;
  • dry every component completely;
  • inspect hidden seals and channels;
  • avoid abrasive tools unless permitted;
  • do not use damaged products;
  • replace parts that retain mould, odour or residue.

Discard an item if it becomes cracked, torn, severely scratched, warped,
